Daily Vehicle Inspections for Service Fleets

Build a repeatable daily vehicle-inspection workflow that records observations, keeps defects visible, and separates operational records from regulatory claims.

Use a consistent checklist

A repeatable checklist helps drivers review the same operating areas each time, such as tires, lights, mirrors, visible leaks, warning indicators, and other items appropriate to the vehicle and business.

Record what the driver actually observed

Inspection records should reflect the driver's observation at the time of the check. Software should not turn an unchecked item or missing report into a claim that a vehicle is safe or compliant.

Keep defects open until follow-up is recorded

Reported defects should remain visible to the people responsible for review and repair. The record should show what was reported and what follow-up was completed rather than silently clearing the finding.

Know when a regulated DVIR rule applies

Some commercial operations are subject to specific federal, state, provincial, or local inspection and recordkeeping rules. FleetTrestle can organize inspection records, but operators remain responsible for determining which rules apply to their vehicles and operation.
